Auto Accidents

There is an average of 6 million car accidents in the United States each year.  These accidents cause over 3 million injuries and over 40,000 fatalities.

In the past it was assumed that injuries from a car accident were always apparent at the scene.  Further research has proven that a delay of symptom onset is more common with both minor and major injuries.  One of the reasons accident victims often will not feel anything at the scene is because of the affects of adrenaline on their systems.  While some accident victims find themselves in great pain the day of the accident, others do not experience symptoms until six months have passed.

Our office has worked with personal injury lawyers, automobile insurance companies and accident victims for many years.  We also coordinate care with other physicians involved in the case.

Dr. Rosenfeld will speak with your attorney and complete the proper paperwork to gain authorization for your care.  During the time Dr. Rosenfeld is treating you, she will work closely with your attorney and insurance company.  In many cases you will not have any out-of-pocket costs for treatment.

Upon completion of treatment, your attorney and insurance company will receive a detailed report regarding your condition and treatment.

After The Accident Checklist

  1. Move your car to a safe place if you can.  If you can't move the car stay in it until the police arrive (if it is safe).
  2. Call the police and an ambulance (if needed).
  3. Go to the emergency room if you injured.  If you don't feel injured get yourself checked out by a doctor within 24 hours.  Many injuries are masked by adrenaline in the aftermath of an accident.
  4. Get the driver's license and insurance information from the other drivers.  Get contact information from all passengers and any witnesses.
  5. Call you insurance company and make a claim.
  6. Never admit fault or say you're sorry to the police or the other driver(s).  Let the police make that decision.
  7. Get an accident report number from the officer who is arrives on scene.
  8. Take pictures of the accident scene and every car involved from all angles.  There may be damage that you can't see yet.
  9. If you can drive your car, and if you are not injured, drive your vehicle home.
  10. If you cannot drive your car arrange for a tow truck.
  11. Call a friend, family member or coworker to pick you up if you cannot drive your car.
  12. File a separate police report if required by your state or local government.
  13. Get a rental car if your insurance covers the cost.  If you are not covered determine if you can afford a rental car on your own.
  14. Select the auto body shop that you want to work on your car.  Referrals or testimonials from  satisfied clients can help you make the choice.

Fill out this accident form as soon as possible so you can capture the details of the accident.

Create your own accident diary including:

  1. The date, time, location and explanation of the accident. Capture this information as soon as you can because memory can fade quickly.
  2. Record your injuries and pain (if any) on a daily basis.  Include emotional pain.
  3. Record anytime missed from work.
  4. Keep track of your doctor's appointments and any information the doctor shared with you.

If you have been in an automobile accident, please contact our office at 949-380-7215 to see how we can assist you in your recovery.

"In 1982 I was catapulted from a motorcycle causing whiplash, neck and low back injuries.  Many years of an untreated condition and compression created much pain, discomfort and subluxation.  After seeing another chiropractor for 15 years it was time for a change.  During those 15 years I had many visits and physical therapy that gave me temporary pain relief and muscle toning and strenuously.  Temporary relief.  I was referred to Dr. Rosenfeld by Barbara Anderson who is a Rolfing therapist.  Dr. Rosenfeld has given me lasting relief from pain and the ability to maintain a longer adjustment much and I have much gratitude and appreciation!"
